Mike Burgess Biography for Publications

Mike is president of Spinnaker, LLC, a Web design and hosting company located in Topeka, Kan. Spinnaker designs, hosts and provides consulting services for a wide range of clients, including businesses, associations and elected officials.

Mike is an active member of his community and the communications industry. He serves in the Kansas House of Representatives and is a board member of the Shawnee County Fair Association. He also recently served as the chair of the Technology Section of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

Before starting Spinnaker, Mike worked for the Kansas Department of Commerce & Housing where he served as webmaster for the agency Web site, coordinated special events, assisted in media relations activities, and served on committees related to e-government.

Mike earned a bachelor's degree in journalism with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in economics from Kansas State University. After serving as chapter president of the K-State chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), Mike was elected to the PRSSA National Committee as vice president of chapter development.
